Judith Kim Hajek Joins Cambridge Systematics’ Austin Office (July 2008)

Judith Kim Hajek recently joined Cambridge Systematics as an Associate in our transportation operations practice.  Ms. Hajek will be working in our Operations Data Management group supporting data business planning; traffic, roadway, and safety data analysis; and performance measures projects across the country.  She brings more than 24 years of experience in the areas of project development and data management for transportation information systems which support planning and programming, traffic safety, and design functions within a large state department of transportation (DOT).  Ms. Hajek is located in our Austin, Texas office.

Prior to joining Cambridge Systematics, Ms. Hajek served with the Texas DOT for 24 years.  Most recently she was the Director of Data Management of the Transportation Planning and Programming Division.  In this role, she oversaw a staff of 50 technical and professional employees, including systems analysts, programmers, data analysts, and information technology (IT) support personnel.  She was responsible for a $5 – $10 million annual budget, which included the procurement of contract services for the collection of roadway data utilizing Global Positioning System (GPS) technology, development of databases and information systems for this data, which also was used to comply with Federal reporting requirements for the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Highway Performance Monitoring System (HPMS).

As the Automation Branch Manager for the Texas DOT Transportation Planning and Programming Division, Ms. Hajek managed the procurement and distribution of hardware and software for the division where she provided guidance to programmers and analysts in the maintenance and development of new and existing information systems to support statewide transportation planning and programming needs.  Ms. Hajek also served as the Assistant Project Manager for the development of the Texas Reference Marker System, a statewide linear referencing system used to maintain roadway inventory data for more than 77,000 miles of public roads in Texas.

Ms. Hajek received a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from the University of Texas at Austin.  For seven years, she was a member and the secretary of the Transportation Research Board (TRB) Statewide Transportation Data and Information Systems Committee, representing the Texas DOT.
