Cambridge Systematics Wins New Contracts to Support States’ CVISN Programs (August 11, 2008)

Cambridge Systematics, Inc., a nationally-recognized transportation services and products firm, is pleased to announce that it recently was selected to advise the States of Montana and Colorado regarding the future of their Commercial Vehicle Information Systems and Networks (CVISN) programs.

For the State of Montana, Cambridge Systematics will conduct a visioning session with all interested stakeholders to help determine the future direction of the State’s Expanded CVISN program.  We also will conduct a series of interviews with key public- and private-sector stakeholders to identify the specific functionality and systems that should be included in the State’s program.  Cambridge Systematics will provide a prioritized list of projects and top-level design that the State can incorporate into its Expanded CVISN Program Plan and Top-Level Design.

For the State of Colorado, Cambridge Systematics recently conducted an assessment of the State’s current CVISN deployment.  As part of this effort, we interviewed credentialing, roadside enforcement, and information technology stakeholders to document their current CVISN-related activities and systems.  Cambridge Systematics also recommended a series of next steps that will ensure the State’s continued operation and maintenance of its Core CVISN infrastructure and attainment of its Expanded CVISN goals and objectives.

Cambridge Systematics – Synonymous With CVISN

Cambridge Systematics has supported the national CVISN program for more than 15 years and has helped 19 states plan and/or implement their CVISN programs. As such, Cambridge Systematics is familiar with the best practices and lessons learned in both the Core and Expanded portions of the CVISN program. Our staff are experts in the development of states’ CVISN grant applications, and we have successfully secured more than $10 million in Federal CVISN deployment grants for their state partners. Cambridge Systematics’ staff also provide ongoing program management and system architect support to states, as needed.

Our team of CVISN experts is part of Cambridge Systematics’s newly formed Freight Transportation business unit, which is focused exclusively on servicing its clients’ freight transportation needs. This new business unit draws on more than 35 years of leadership in the areas of freight transportation consulting, modeling, and technology solutions to address the key challenges confronting planners, regulators, and users of the nation’s freight transportation system. The Freight Transportation business unit integrates staff with freight expertise from Cambridge Systematics’ offices across the United States, thus enabling a more effective alignment of our resources with client needs.
