Travel Demand Forecasting Experts Feng Liu and Smith Myung Join Cambridge Systematics (April 9, 2010)

Feng Liu, Ph.D. recently joined Cambridge Systematics as a Senior Associate in our Bethesda, Maryland office. Dr. Liu is an accomplished modeler, planner, and researcher with more than 20 years of experience covering a wide spectrum of modeling and planning issues. His extensive modeling experience includes developing models and applications for a variety of planning uses at the local, metropolitan, and state levels, such as regional travel demand forecasting, integrated land use, and transportation modeling; quantifying the travel and air quality benefits of the Smart Growth program; visioning and scenario planning; ridership forecasting for the Federal Transit Administration’s News Starts program; and environmental justice analysis.

Dr. Liu has a proven track record, with more than a decade of project management experience, in both the public and private sectors. Prior to joining Cambridge Systematics, he spent more than 20 years in consulting, the public sector, as well as with academic institutions, including the Michael Baker Corporation, Maryland Department of Planning, Baltimore Metropolitan Council, and University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Liu received both Ph.D. and Master’s degrees in City and Regional Planning from the University of Pennsylvania, a Master’s degree in Environmental Science from Beijing Normal University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Geography from Zhongshan University.

Smith Myung recently joined Cambridge Systematics as a Senior Associate in our Denver, Colorado office. Mr. Myung brings more than 15 years of experience in travel demand forecasting and transit planning. He has developed and applied travel demand models in support of major investment studies, alternatives analyses, and other planning studies in the United States and the United Arab Emirates. He also has experience on a variety of transit-related projects in operations planning, including developing service plans, route evaluation, and estimating fleet requirements and operations and maintenance costs.

Prior to joining Cambridge Systematics, Mr. Myung served in various positions at the Parsons Corporation, Connetics Transportation Group (formerly Manuel Padron & Associates), and the Regional Transportation District (RTD) in Denver, Colorado.

Mr. Myung received a Master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Colorado and a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and History from the University of Michigan.
